This fall, the Ontario Science Centre presents Legends of Flight, the latest IMAX feature from the acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Stephen Low. Presented at the Science Centre’s Shoppers Drug Mart OMNIMAX Theatre starting September 24, 1010, the film features breathtaking aerial mountain views and enables audiences to experience the thrill and excitement of flying.

The beautifully filmed feature explores the connections between natural flight, advanced design, innovative assembly techniques and operational technologies. Featuring various aircraft designs, the film introduces us to the new era of aircrafts including the 787 Dreamliner – Boeing’s long range, twin-engine jet airliner.

Guiding us through the feature is Captain Mike Carriker, chief pilot for the 787 Dreamliner. With experience of flying more than 130 various aircraft types, Captain Carriker’s skills and personality engage the audience as he makes the voyage flying the world’s most anticipated commercial aircraft highlighting important milestones at the dawn of a new era in aircraft design and aviation.

Captain Carriker’s technical explanations are presented to the viewers via the SANDDE technology – short for Stereoscopic Animation Drawing Device. Developed by IMAX co-founder Roman Kroitor, SANDEE enables the audience to see Captain’s Carriker’s explanations as if they are drawn in space, illustrated on the screen – further adding to the magnificence of the IMAX photography.

Legends of Flight is directed by Stephen Low, produced by Pietro L. Serapiglia and executive produced by K2Communications Inc. in association with the Smithsonian National Air and Space museum. It is also part of the LG film series.
