Banks in Canada rally to support Canadian Red Cross' Flood Relief Efforts in Ontario, Québec and New

Tuesday, 30 April 2019 10:31.AM

Ten banks have come together to help the Canadian Red Cross provide emergency relief and support for communities impacted by flooding in Ontario, Québec and New Brunswick. Support includes opening branch locations and online networks for donations from Canadians.

Banks are also making corporate contributions and some banks are arranging special payment options for people impacted by the floods.

The Red Cross is responding to the heightened risk of flooding because of winter thaw and steady rains that have put several communities at risk. The Red Cross has additional volunteers and supplies pre-positioned and ready to be deployed, if needed.

How Canadians can help

The following banks are accepting customer donations through their branch and online networks from Tuesday, April 30th to Tuesday, May 14th:

BMO
Canadian Western Bank
CIBC
HSBC Bank Canada
Laurentian Bank
National Bank
RBC
Scotiabank
Tangerine Bank (donations can be made online directly from client accounts starting from May 1st to May 15th)
TD Bank Group

The public can also support by donating online at www.redcross.ca by calling 1-800-418-1111 or by contacting their local Canadian Red Cross office.
