City of Toronto's Tax & Utility Relief programs provide support for low-income seniors and low-income people living with disabilities
The City of Toronto is committed to supporting vulnerable populations by assisting low-income seniors and low-income individuals with disabilities through its Tax & Utility Relief programs. These programs are designed to alleviate financial strain and ensure eligible property owners can comfortably maintain their residences.
The City offers various programs including the Property Tax Increase Cancellation Program, Property Tax Increase Deferral Program, Water Rebate Program and Solid Waste Rebate Program, each with separate eligibility criteria based on age, income and other factors.
Qualified property owners are encouraged to apply online as this allows the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to verify household income without the need for additional income-related documentation. Alternatively, property owners or their representatives can submit a paper application form and any required documents by mail.
To apply or learn more about the Tax & Utility Relief programs and how to submit your documents, visit the Cityβs Tax & Utility Relief Programs webpage: www.toronto.ca/services-payments/property-taxes-utilities/property-tax/property-tax-water-solid-waste-relief-and-rebate-programs/property-tax-and-utility-relief-program. The deadline to apply is October 31.
"I am proud that the Cityβs Tax & Utility Relief programs continue to support low-income seniors and low-income individuals living with disabilities. These initiatives reflect our commitment to ensuring all residents have access to affordable housing and essential services. I encourage eligible residents to take advantage of these programs."
