Happening Now: πποΈπ City Of Toronto Celebrates Youth Week with More Than 30 Events Across the City

Mayor Olivia Chow has proclaimed Thursday, May 1 to Wednesday, May 7 as Youth Week β an annual celebration showcasing the abilities and talents of youth from diverse communities across Toronto. During Youth Week, young people can take part in free events that focus on visual and performance arts, personal development and civic engagement, all mixed with some fun.
On Friday, May 2, Torontoβs Youth Poet Laureate Shahaddah Jack will launch the Say It Loud! Youth Poetry Slam at the Toronto Reference Library. This two-round spoken word competition will showcase the powerful voices of young poets. Additional highlights of Youth Week include:
β’ Thursday, May 1 to Sunday, May 4 β ResilientTOgether salutes youth artistic expression through visual and performing arts at the 918 Bathurst Centre for Culture, Arts, Media and Education.
β’ Thursday, May 1 to Thursday, May 8 β Youth spaces and hubs across the city host numerous free events and workshops in the areas of wellness, visual arts, cooking, fashion, dance and sports.
β’ Friday, May 2 β The Branded Youth Entrepreneurship conference supports Black, newcomer and vulnerable youth entrepreneurs through networking, business consultation and mentorship opportunities.
β’ Saturday, May 3 β The STOMP Urban Dance Competition/Showcase returns to Meridian Hall for its 22nd edition. Dance teams from across Toronto compete. Tickets are $5.
